Guiding my fellow men
Therapy has primarily developed through the lens of what women need. Today, approximately 77.5% of therapists are women, as are the majority of clients seeking therapy. Over time, this imbalance has shaped dominant therapeutic models that emphasize verbal processing, communication skills, and emotional validation. While these are valuable components of healing and growth, they are not enough for most men.
Men do not only need to talk about their lives and name their feelings; they need to build the capacity and clarity to face them. They need to feel competent in meeting life's challenges, supporting their families and communities, and living in integrity with their values. In a culture largely devoid of elders and rites of passage, this is work we must do together, side by side as men.
My work with men is rooted in years of sitting in men's groups and leading Men's Work through retreats and embodiment practices. I don't just offer this work, I live it. Together, we enter the pain, shame, and unresolved hurt, directly, not to dwell there or get stuck, but to metabolize it and use it as fuel for a deeper, more embodied life. As we come out of the fire together, we engage in the lifelong practice of developing the tactical skills of nervous system regulation and accessing our own innate wisdom, which allows a man to access his full strength, presence, and leadership.
Growing into deeper manhood is not the ego-driven self-optimization being sold today. It is the disciplined development of presence and depth in the service of protection, truth, and love; the capacity to stand firmly in one's life as a grounded, trustworthy, and potent man.
